This is a debut novel. It’s a good plot that shows respect for the reader. The surprises are entertaining, but the real originality lies in the last chapters, where the relation of fear, isolation and guilt are explored. To say Brian goes off the rails is an understatement, but I’m glad I read it. It is different and original. A bit like Falling Down with Rowan Atkinson.

Some very unpleasant people with more than a casual interest in making money. That aspects drives the thriller portion of the book, but, the personal dilemma raised by insanity is even more compelling.
